        Yonec is a fairytale-poem from the 12th century. It is about a rich old man marries a beautiful young woman. He fears that she will be unfaithful to hum, so he imprisons her in a tower and assigns his aged sister to watch over her.   As the years go by, she laments her situation and stops taking care of herself, making he beauty fade away. The using of portrayal in this paper is outstanding and that is what I will discuss in this essay.
        “When she’d spoken this sad word, she picked out the shadow of a great bird. Through a narrow window. She did not know what it might be.” The word use of pick is awesome, which shows her attitude and inside heart movement. Her loneliness as a wife and also loyalty as a wife and her complex attitude can be reflected in this word. She is lonely which is true. However, did she regret for a little bit for her marriage. We cannot tell from reading till here. “He comes flying through the window, but the spits area fixed there now; one pierces his body, deep; Scarlet blood begins to seep. Knowing this wound is his doom, Freed of the spike, he enters her room. He alights on the bed beside the lady. So that her sheets are all bloody. She sees the blood and the awful gash. Anguish makes her white as ash.” How heroic he is, that can be reflected on those words and how deep their love is, that can all be reflected by those words. Those words descript the scene before his death. He alights on the bed, the word alights give us a picture of the movement before his death. A knight besides his lady and die on her arms.
        Those two piece of portrayal are different, however shows in one piece of poem. Yonec is a piece of women’s literature. The portrayal in women’s literature is different from the portrayal in other normal writing. The words are more exquisite and gentle. The flowers in literature is a lot and anywhere. Those two piece of portrayal both show up in one piece of writing and there are still different in some ways. When portrayal is describing about a man and describing about a woman in women’s literature, they are still different. When we talk about a man, especially a knight, he usually be described as a strong one. So writers can use some strong words, tough words. However, in women’s literature, the words are usually gentle. So how to show a man is strong in women’s literature. Then we can use the word as” he alights on the bed beside the lady” We draw an aesthetics picture. There is no words talking about how he fight the enemy, there is no words about how brave when he fights, but there is words about how brave and lovely when he died. Then that is the different and unique point of women’s literature. When we talk about the man’s braveness, we show the way he die, but not the way he live. In the other piece, when author is talking about woman and the feeling of woman, that is a traditional use of words in women’s literature. That usually begins as “when she’d spoken this sad word……”
         “A very young and sympathetic lady, extremely graced with human gentleness, who stand by me and heard me call on death, seeing the piteous weeping of my eyes and hearing wild, confusing words I spoke, became so filled with fear she wept aloud. “(Vita Nuova, Dante,P 48) This is a random piece of writing about in another piece of women’s literature artwork. That is also portrayal and that is also written about how a lady act and her behaviour. That is a very gentle piece of artwork and this kind of gentle portrayal is almost in everywhere in this paper. Another piece talking about woman in love, “ Colour of love and air of sympathy have never so miraculously seized the face of any lady when she gazed at eyes susceptible of anguished tears” (Vita Nuova, Dante, P73)This is another piece of portrayal and that is talking about the love from a woman. Although it is all in the form of poems, it is also excellent portrayal. The beautiful portrayal is still writing about women and that is an important factor about women’s literature. There is more content in Women’s literature about love and family life. Then the portrayal in women’s literature is also realted to how to describe different kind of love. In medieval literature, the love is gentle pure while in literature after somehow this love is also can be considered as physical lust and readers can also accept it.
        Yonec is a poem writing and same as Vita Nuova. The portrayal in poem is different from portrayal in normal writing. In normal writing, the portrayal is more in detail. In poem, the form has some limitation. In this content, the use of portrayal is very valuable, which can add flower to the paper. The application of portrayal in poem is beautiful, though there is the limitation of it. In poem, the portrayal is not usually long paragraph. In poem, the portrayal is on the purpose of talking about love.
        The application of portrayal in Yonec is obviously excellent. The use of portrayal is also important in the whole poem. Yonec is more like telling a story. To use poem to tell a story is of high difficult. That is also why the use of portrayal is important. The use of portrayal forms the entire poem. The use of portrayal makes the words more compact. That is also an advantage of using portrayal. Using trope is always making the paper or poem more compact. Trope is always used for the main idea of the paper and the plot. The using of trope makes the poem of Yonec better and more beautiful.
